Voice Lessons

VOICE STUDIO - CURRENTLY KEEPING A WAITING LIST

Offering in-person or virtual lessons.

TEACHING METHOD & EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching private voice lessons for over 20 years. My approach to teaching involves helping my students develop a healthy vocal technique, which includes understanding basic vocal function and health, exercising and strengthening the full vocal range, practicing appropriate breathing and support,
and developing awareness.

Everyone's voice is unique. My job is to guide you in exploring and understanding your individual instrument, and how to apply your technique to a variety of musical styles including (but not limited to) classical, musical theater, pop, rock, jazz and gospel/R&B.

I was on the voice faculty at UC Davis for three years, and taught privately in the Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Areas. In 2008, I moved back to my hometown of Falls Church,
and have been teaching locally since then.

My pedagogical training includes undergraduate & graduate course work as well as a Level III Certification and post-certification courses in Somatic Voicework™ - The LoVetri Method. I also serve as an Associate Faculty member for The LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework, in partnership with Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Performing Arts.

I am also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Music Teachers National Association/Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association (MTNA/NVMTA), which provide opportunities for professional development and continuing education.

In addition to singing, students can learn how to read music and
explore basic music theory or introductory piano.
